I am happily tucked in with my furry family here in NW Seattle, this balmy Seattle evening. It is a lovely time to report on the happenings of my life.
I spent a busy day yesterday with my Chinese friends. Lily, Sister-of-my Heart, has moved to a great new apartment as part of her fabulous corporate responsibility and experience with her new job, and I was part of the crew during the short 'transfer' process across the neighborhood. Another wonderful new friend from
China, Vera, was with us all day and trusty Cocoa (the Wonder Dog) herded the movers with her charm. Lily had everything organized pretty well, so much of the day consisted of stories traded back and forth about Chinese versus American lifestyles among women. I just cannot get enough!!
As darkness approached and our bellies grumbled, we all enjoyed 'American-Style' food at Applebee's, along with more of Lily's colleagues. When I arrived home around 8 PM, the tiger kitties were relieved that we (Cocoa and me) had not deserted them forever. The reward, of course: plenty of 'purrrrrrs' and snuggles under blankies at night's end.

After a night owl bedtime, I found myself feeling puckish and regretful that I did not get more sleep this morning. Still, I grabbed an excellent cup of coffee by 10 AM - even at home I treat myself with Silk Creamer and great brew. After a few hours of checking off critical list items, my mood lifted, and by mid-afternoon, I had scheduled the next MeetUp for our Brain Injury Group; obtained insurance; made three appointments, and studied 3 chapters in my real estate license renewal book.
As a person with disabilities, these statements may seem dull, boring, and yes, rather inane. Yet I report them with a smile because I see all of this as a positive outlook. You see, not long ago, I was feeling quite a bit lower in my outlook, and accomplishing one or two of these things in one day would have been a big deal.
I was living in an apartment that did not suit me - I needed a house with a back yard for Cocoa; more space and
sense of sanctuary. Now that I have found this, an amazing sort of transformation seems to have begun with the move. My energy levels are better, and I feel more positive about the future. I remember a vision that I carried inside when first relocating here from Florida more than a year ago now - this was precisely the feeling I was dreaming would come.
Wishing you well, and please stay tuned.
